Increase in vehicle interference in Cheylesmore |

Vehicle Crime Alert
Good evening everyone,
I just wanted to make you aware that we’ve seen a noticeable increase in vehicle interference in Cheylesmore recently.
The majority of incidents involve offenders trying car door handles to find vehicles that have been left unlocked, although some vehicles have also been targeted because valuables were left on display. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to help protect your vehicle: - Double check your vehicle is locked every time you leave it, even if it’s only for a few minutes. - Remove bags, wallets, phones and any other valuables, or keep them completely out of sight. - If you have a keyless vehicle, keep your keys away from doors and windows and consider using a signal-blocking pouch. - Where possible, park in well-lit areas or on your driveway. - If you have CCTV, a Ring doorbell or a dashcam, please make sure it’s working. If you capture anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles, please let us know.
If you see anyone trying vehicle door handles, looking into parked cars or behaving suspiciously, please report it. If it’s happening at the time, call 999. For information after the event, you can report it via 101 or online. Please also consider speaking to neighbours, friends and family—especially those who may not see messages like this - to remind them to secure their vehicles. Thank you for your continued support. By working together and keeping an eye out for one another, we can make it much harder for criminals to operate in our neighbourhood.
Stay safe,
PCSO Emily Birch | ||
